Tucked away behind Fleet Street in the tiny Gough Square, restored
to its original condition, is Dr Samuel Johnsons House. Dr Johnson
was famous for the many witty remarks that his biographer, James
Boswell, recorded and published. His home for 11 years, it is now
a simple tribute to one of London's greatest and most idiosyncratic
men. The house contains an amazing collection of books including
a first edition of the first definitive English Dictionary that
he compiled (published in 1755).
